What is consciousness? What is the substance of consciousness? Is it material or immaterial, mortal or immortal? How is it connected with a body? Has it a particular seat in any particular body as the brain does? Is consciousness synonymous with mind? Is it eternal and non-local? These questions have interested thinkers for many centuries. It is the object of this book to demonstrate, through a series of cases reported across the world at various times relating to many curious mind-related phenomena like the creation of mental entities, the imprints of indelible images on the human body, stigmata, birthmarks and bodily deformities corresponding to the injuries sustained in the previous life, thought-photography, materialization experiments etc., that: Human mind can bring into being thought-forms and can exteriorize them, giving them some objective consistency.

What do ideas look like? This clairvoyant view of the shape, color, and atmospheric effect of mental energy includes black-and-white drawings and color plates to convey a graphic representation of the power of thought. Prominent Theosophists Annie Besant and C. W. Leadbeater were pioneers in asserting that thoughts are, indeed, things. Originally released in 1901, Thought-Forms is a seminal work on what thoughts “look” like. It had an impact far beyond the circle of its primary readers and greatly influenced leading artists such as Piet Mondrian and Wassily Kandinsky. Simple in style and clearly written, Thought Forms is a classic of the Theosophical tradition that has as much to say in our own day as it did a century ago. It lucidly sets forth a way to conceive of the invisible realms within and around us, with implications both for how we view the world and how we act in it. Discussion includes the meaning of color, thought forms built by music, and the nature of helpful thoughts. Based on the authors’ clairvoyant vision, its illustrations suggest the form thoughts take in relation, for instance, to anger, fear, intellect, sympathy, devotion, and a meditative state. Annie Besant herself describes the book’s purpose as being to “serve as a striking moral lesson to every reader, making him realize the nature and power of his thoughts, acting as a stimulus to the noble and a curb to the base. With this belief and hope we send it on its way.”

Psychogons are of central importance for parapsychology, religions, magic and mysticism. Most people are unaware of the connections between the different versions of assumptions among themselves, due to the inconsistency in language use in the religious and esoteric scene – which is especially noticeable in the area of research of psychogons. The word “psychogon” as a term for the underlying phenomenon is only known to few. Instead, terms for very specific observations and practices are used frequently. The fact that all these different cases represent one and the same phenomenon in different variations and views is no longer recognized. This leads to a fragmentation of researches, impedes the establishment of fundamental theories and results in unnecessary quarrels. This e-book outlines the different terms and approaches, in an attempt to show the similarities and the basical mechanisms.

Thought-Forms: A Record of Clairvoyant Investigation is a theosophical book compiled by the members of the Theosophical Society A. Besant and C. W. Leadbeater. It was originally published in 1901 in London. From the standpoint of Theosophy, it tells regarding visualization of thoughts, experiences, emotions and music. Drawings of the "thought-forms" were performed by painters Varley, Prince, and McFarlane. This book has become the result of the joint work of the authors, which began in 1895, when they had started an investigation of "the subtle matter of the universe." They were interested the work of the human mind as, according their claim, this work "extrudes into the external world" the thought-forms. In September 1896, Besant reported in Lucifer that "two clairvoyant Theosophists" (whose personalities were not disclosed in the journal, although some members of the Society knew about them) had started "observing the substance of thought." Her article named Thought-Forms was accompanied by four pages of pictures of diverse thought-forms which the investigators "had observed and described to an artist." The colour sketches of the unknown performance were depicting: on the first plate--thought-forms of "devotion," "sacrifice," and "devotional," on the second one--three types of "anger," on the third one--three types of "love" ("undirected," "directed," and "grasping"), and on the fourth one--thought-forms of "jealousy," "intellect," and "ambition." Besant gave the article scientific coloring, not forgetting to mention Röntgen, Baraduc, Reichenbach, "vibrations and the ether." This "small but influential book", which contains color pictures of thought-forms that the authors said are created "in subtle spirit-matter," was published in 1901. The book affirms that "the quality" of thoughts influences the life experience of their creator, and that they "can affect" other people. The authors write that they, like many theosophists, are convinced that "thoughts are things," and the task of their book is to help the reader understand this. The frontispiece of the book contains a table "The meanings of colours" of thought-forms and human aura associated with feelings and emotions, beginning with "High Spirituality" (light blue--in the upper left corner) and ending by "Malice" (black--in the lower right corner), 25 colors in all. The authors argue that human aura is "the outer part of the cloud-like substance of his higher bodies, interpenetrating each other, and extending beyond the confines of his physical body." The mental and desire bodies (two human higher bodies) are "those chiefly concerned with the appearance of what are called thought-forms." (wikipedia.org)

Forever in pursuit of happiness, while having the unpleasant feeling of never catching up with it, is part of the sensation of ill-being with which many of us today are familiar. The action of the Thought-Forms we carry around with us constantly aggravates this state of being and everything which happens to us in our lives. Unknown to most of us, Thought-Forms affect our health, shape our happiness and, of course, our unhappiness. They can suffocate us or drive us forward, but becoming aware of and understanding them is vital on our road to liberation. By perceiving and knowing them, we can consciously build up Thought-Forms that help us and transform those which hold us back. The first volume deals with how we can understand and recognize our Thought-Forms in order to begin this process of “transmutation”.
