Excerpt from The Training School Quarterly, Vol. 4: October, November, December, 1917 It has been our desire to have connected with the Training School a real country school, but until recently we have not been able to do so. We hold to the idea that if children are transported from the country into the towns that we cannot in that way get a country school. All propositions for transferring of students in the town's graded school, the idea Of building a one-room rural school in the town and transport ing children to it, or the idea of having an ungraded group as a country school, has never met with my approval, because no one of these plans Will give a country school. Unless the school is in the country, with country ideals and standards, with the country environment, it can never be called a typical country school.
