Excerpt from The Register of the Lynn Historical Society, Lynn, Massachusetts: For the Year 1903 The following Resolutions, prepared by Hon. Rufus Kimball, a life - long friend of Mr. Philip A. Chase, were presented and adopted by a rising vote at the meeting of the Society on Thursday evening, December I7, 1904: Resolved, That in the death of philip A. Chase the Lynn Historical Society has lost one of its most esteemed and valu able members, one of its earliest promoters and its first president, whose active interest in all things pertaining to its welfare has contributed greatly to its growth and prosperity. The departure of a citizen whose nice perception and sensi tive mental touch, ready power of discerning what is required by circumstances, whose business ability and skill in organization placed him at the head of great financial institutions and enter prises for the good of all the people, is a loss to the community which is almost irreparable. Such a man was our late associate, whose foremost activity in securing to his native city her great forest reservation will for ever be held in grateful remembrance, together with his many other thoughtful acts for the public good. And the Common wealth, fortunate in placing him at the head of her original Park Commission, has also reaped the benefit of his foresight and knowledge of affairs. His long business career is well known to all, marked by industry, skill and integrity which brought suc cess to all his many undertakings.
