Excerpt from The Foundations of Scientific Agriculture It is hoped that the following chapters will supply a want - which seems to be felt in the Bombay Presidency, if not everywhere in India and the Colonies - viz. a concise manual containing an outline of the Foundational Principles of Scientific Agriculture. These chapters were originally composed in the guise of a short course of lectures addressed to a mixed class of students of agriculture, engineering, and forestry - at the Poona College - of Science: a duty which has devolved on the author for a period of over fifteen years.
