A Bomber Command classic depicting the deep feelings associated with the human cost of the air war in World War II. This is the breathtaking story of a wartime Lancaster bomber crew facing the hazards of bombing strongly defended targets in Germany. An RAAF navigator with 103 Squadron based at RAF Elsham Wolds, England 1942, he crewed up with a pilot from Western Australia and British airmen to fly the iconic Lancaster bomber. Charlwood writes sympathetically and understandingly of the hopes and fears of the crews as squadron losses mounted.

Beloved American hero and astronaut Buzz Aldrin reflects on the wisdom, guiding principles, and irreverent anecdotes he's gathered—both in outer space and on earth—through his event-filled life, in this inspiring guide-to-life for the next generation. Everywhere he goes, crowds gather to meet Buzz Aldrin. He is a world-class hero, a larger-than-life figurehead, best known of a generation of astronauts whose achievements surged in just a few years from first man in space to first men on the moon. Now he pauses to reflect and share what he has learned, from the vantage point not only of outer space but also of time: still a non-stop traveler and impassioned advocate for space exploration, Aldrin will be 86 in 2016. No Dream Is Too High whittles down Buzz Aldrin's event-filled life into a short list of principles he values, each illustrated by fascinating anecdotes and memories, such as: · Second comes right after first. NASA protocol should have meant he was first on the moon, but rules changed just before the mission. How he learned to be proud of being the second man on the moon. · Look for opportunities, not obstacles. Buzz was rejected the first time he applied to be an astronaut. Failure is an opportunity to learn to do better. · Always maintain your spirit of adventure. For his 80th birthday, Buzz went diving in the Galapagos and hitched a ride on a whale shark. He stays fit, energetic, and fascinated with life. No Dream Is Too High is a beautiful memento, a thought-provoking set of ideas, and a new opportunity for Buzz Aldrin to connect with the masses of people who recognize his unique place in human history.

Carter Pierce wants to spend his days tending the family farm he inherited and that's about it. After a tour of duty and a few bullet holes, he's looking forward to some peace and quiet in his hometown. Unfortunately for the sexy, bearded farmer, hippie-dippie Blue Moon doesn't believe in peace and quiet. And his nosy neighbors sure as hell don't know how to mind their own business. Neither does the big city journalist who arrives to interview him for a magazine article. Summer Lentz is out of place with her designer wardrobe and workaholic schedule. She asks too many questions and gets under his skin with her smart mouth and those denim-blue eyes. Now she's typing his family's story a mile a minute at his kitchen table and sleeping in the bedroom across the hall. His only option is to scare her away from farm life so he can go back to his nice, solitary life. But Summer's got a stubborn streak and secrets of her own. And once Carter starts pulling at those threads, he's not so eager to send her packing. Will a nudge from the matchmaking Beautification Committee result in a happily ever after or a homegrown disaster?

There is an interesting parallel between the reductive process of writing certain kinds of modern poetry and the approach taken by the sculptor, Alberto Giacometti, to his work. Giacometti reduced the form of his human subject to an absolute minimum, whilst somehow managing to maximise its existential reality; perhaps as a result of the increased isolation in the expanded, surrounding, three-dimensional void. It is almost as if the otherwise voluminous, fleshy, sculptural form had been shrunk and reduced to the elongated, yet intense, state of a skeletal armature; but not one lacking human qualities, even though some of the final forms were not unlike stalagmites. If it is possible to do the same with written work, then perhaps such an approach can be adopted to bring about a similar kind of appreciation of what it means to be human and ultimately the significance of No Water, No Moon.
