This is a story (MITYA), about a great man. It is fiction based on fact, historical fiction as it were. It tells of the formative times of the Russian composer Dmitri (MITYA) Dmitrievich SHOSTAKOVICH He lived from 1906 through 1975. He lived through a revolution, a civil war and two World Wars. He is best known for his 15 symphonies, but he wrote all kinds of music: movie music, piano music, orchestral music, Operas, and even music for animated films. All in all he produced over 147 different pieces. Each year more and more of his work is being recorded. His work is full of WONDER. This is an attempt to relive his story with admiration and gratitude. It is intended as a tribute to a creative genius and suffering soul.
Ivan Bunin started working upon Mitya's Love in Grasse in the summer of 1924. In the course of writing plot lines were changing continuously. The first version (marked as of June 3, 1924, by Vera Muromtseva) told the story of a 'moral fall' of a young man who's been degraded and compromised by a local village counterman. The theme of Mitya's love for Katya appeared later and soon became the major one. Some versions were full of details of country life, Alyonka's proposed marriage and Moscow's bohemian life Katya fell victim of. Most of these sub-plots were later omitted.
Fyodor Dostoevsky’s final work, The Brothers Karamazov, is arguably one of the best novels ever written in any language. Set in 19th-century Russia, the novel was published as a serial in The Russian Messenger from January 1879 to November 1880. The story revolves around the murder of Fyodor Pavlovitch Karamazov—the father of the Karamazov brothers—a debauched man who leads a hedonistic life and excels in the art of seducing women. A spiritual drama of sorts, the story of Fyodor and his three sons from different wives, embodies Dostoevsky’s philosophy and delves into debates on morality, free will and God. Dostoevsky’s hero Alyosha was named after his own son who died of epilepsy at the age of three in 1878. The qualities that Dostoevsky admired in his son are reflected in the eponymous character, created and developed as a cathartic process. Dostoevsky died less than four months after the publication of The Brothers Karamazov. Constance Garnett’s English translation of the novel was released in 1912. It is believed that a copy of The Brothers Karamazov was found next to Leo Tolstoy’s nightstand when he died.
