This paper examines the challenge religious pluralism poses for military chaplains and the chaplaincy. Among religious scholars and theologians there is an on-going debate about the meaning of pluralism. The dialogue suggests the interpretation of religious pluralism depends upon personal religious beliefs and how the meaning of 'religion' is framed. Army chaplains have long played an integral part in America’s armed forces.
