Savvas Marangidis demonstrates how our life experiences can make us who we are today through his collection of thought provoking poetry. His life struggles and experiences reflected in his poetry are not as individual to him as one may think. They are life’s true realities and their manifestations seen by him. His reflections depicting life is experienced by many of the young today everywhere around the world. Those who have been met with temptation and succumb to them. The crime, the addictions and the element of self value. Those that hide it and those that don’t. He writes how we succumb to society’s stronghold,we surrender ourselves to modern day mechanics, forgetting who we truly are as human beings. We hold down regular jobs, follow the mainstream and even lose ourselves in this. Savvas swam against the tide in the search for something else believing there must be more to life. What was his truth and what was his reality? A journey frought with opposition and humility by those who didn’t understand him or want to.He attempted to join man and society and become part of modern day politics. He married, divorced, held down a regular job. But he wanted more,so he strayed questioning everything and everyone. However, unlike many of us,he sought to seek his true identity;his truths. So, he separated himself from the world as he knew it then and ventured into the unknown world that beckoned him. What Savvas has to say negates the old saying”ignorance is bliss” for it is

The one guide every creative nonfiction writer needs to turn to when being "creative." Writers of memoir and narrative nonfiction are experiencing difficult days with the discovery that some well-known works in the genre contain exaggerations--or are partially fabricated. But what are the parameters of creative nonfiction? Keep It Real begins by defining creative nonfiction. Then it explores the flexibility of the form--the liberties and the boundaries that allow writers to be as truthful, factual, and artful as possible. A succinct but rich compendium of ideas, terms, and techniques, Keep It Real clarifies the ins and outs of writing creative nonfiction. Starting with acknowledgment of sources, running through fact-checking, metaphor, and navel gazing, and responsibilities to their subjects, this book provides all the information you need to write with verve while remaining true to your story.

Offers the "village of hope" as a framework where pastors and leaders offer the church as a place of support, guidance, and accountability for youth, parents, and other adults who are raising today's black youth. The first edition of Working with Black Youth, edited by Charles R. Foster and Grant S. Shockley, was published in 1989. Since that time the challenges for black youth have only intensified and grown in complexity. A burning question of Black churches continues to be: How can we effectively ministry with our youth? Their world is fast-paced, media-centered, techno-savvy, hip-hop, violent, and plagued with HIV/AIDS. The Church wants to guide youth toward a Christian identity with values for wise decision-making. Youth want their questions heard. They want to see hope modeled. They need leadership opportunities. While there are no quick, easy, or singular approaches to working with black youth, there can be a framework to offer vital and relevant youth ministry. This book proposes a comprehensive framework that has evolved over ten years of annual youth and family convocations of the Interdenominational Theological Center as well as youth and family forums and activities related to the Youth Hope-Builders Academy of ITC. The framework builds on the image of the congregation as a "village of hope" where pastors and leaders get real to offer the church as a place of support, guidance, and accountability for youth, parents, and other adults who are raising today's black youth. Keep It Real is a novel about the true events of Lexus and Malik. It is the tell all saga, the deep things Malik did not tell you. There are similar events in this book to Malik's version but it goes a little deeper and into more detail; for instance, Malik did not tell you what type of man he is with his women, the abuse, and the forbidden secrets he hid about his sexuality, and the cold hearted nature he has towards his children, the compulsive lies, and the deceit, and how he really has a condescending hate towards women. It all started out in a small town in the East Coast. I grew up in a small suburban area and was not exposed to too much of the outside world. My curiosity took me into the negative life style that I experienced when I walked in my own path at an early age before I was ready to even experience life. That was a long horrible path of secrets, deceit, abuse and human behaviors that I have never imagined. Some never find there way back but thanks to the Most High , I did not stray too far away and all was not lost. Today I encourage women and others in abusive, and difficult relationships and situations that they are not alone and there is help, and you don't have to stay in these nonproductive situations. You have to see it for what it is and elevate your mind and the rest will follow.

Keep It Real: The Life Story of James “Jimmy” Palao, “The King of Jazz” by Joan Singleton This book will become a major resource for anyone interested in the beginning history of Jazz. It was written to develop an understanding of some of the events that caused Jazz to prosper and to give credit to an important figure, Jimmy Palao, who gave his life to developing, teaching and sharing his musical skills. It was Jimmy Palao who taught Buddy Bolden how to read and work with the cornet. Jimmy later played in the Buddy Bolden Band and the teacher learned from the student. Buddy became ill in 1905 and never played again... Buddy Bolden never recorded or published any of his music. This could have been the end of his friend’s music but Jimmy Palao had fallen in love with this style of music and he became leader of the Imperial Band and began to develop this music. It was believed that Jimmy Palao was the first to coin the term “Jazz” This biography explores the life and career path from 1897 to 1925 of Jimmy Palao who became the Leader and Director of the Original Creole Orchestra, one of the greatest musical organizations of this era; the first band to travel to over 75 cities in the U.S. and Canadian cities and gain national prominence. He was the first King of Jazz. He developed the syncopated 4/4 beat and created collective improvisation and allowed the band members to explore new instrumental techniques. These were the sounds of real Jazz. This is a... candid and somewhat revealing, look at the relationships between the Jazzmen of the Original Creole Orchestra, and the culture and the social dynamics that brought them together. . It takes us into the beginning of the Roaring Twenties as Jimmy Palao’s career continued to blossom and was cut short at the early age of 45 years old. This book is Great Reading... It’s thought provoking.... It’s a research in history that reads like a novel. Let’s Together Celebrate over 100 Years of Jazz!!! America’s National Treasure
