Partimos siempre de un concepto de conflicto y violencia presentes en las diferentes dimensiones de las sociedades humanas y construimos un concepto de paz como una categoría independiente, compleja y de igual multidimensionalidad, que denominamos paz neutra (como un instrumento que elimina la violencia cultural). Estos estudios constituyen con el concepto de paz neutra, un esfuerzo intelectual (empático, noviolento y creativo) para eliminar la violencia cultural defensora y justificadora de las violencias directas y estructurales. Igualmente, el libro pretende ser recopilador y aclarador para quien se acerque a los Estudios para la paz. Entendemos que desde el conocimiento global del ser humano se puede crear una epistemología antropológica para la paz (subrayamos el para en oposición a de la paz que entendemos no implica una acción hacia un fin, en este caso la paz); al mismo tiempo que posibilita la creación de modelos antropológicos culturales de hacer las paces.
