This is an abstracted transcription of Scott County Court Minute Book 1 1815 - 1819. Scott County was created from parts of Russell, Lee, and Washington Counties in 1814 and became effective with the first meeting of the County Court on Bebruary 14, 1815. Estillville (current day Gate City) was chosen as the county seat. Originally Scott County included part of current day Wise County. A small piece of that area was lost to Lee in 1824 and the rest when Wise was created in 1856.
