Ohio, born in the year 1846, and at the age of two and a half years went with his parents to Pennsylvania, where he remained until 1867, and then located in Illinois. After remaining there one year, he returned to Pennsylvania, and in 1869 came to Clark County, Mo., and followed farming and teaming until 1872, when he opened a family grocery in Kahoka, and has had a thriving trade ever since. Previous to this, in 1868, he was united in matrimony to Rachel Crayn, of Pennsylvania, and the daughter of Stephen and Mary Crayn. She was born in the'State of Pennsylvania about 1846, and is the mother of five children: Stephen, Ella, Charles, Samuel and Annie. Our subject is a Republican in politics, and his wife is a memberof the Baptist Church. He is the son of Samuel and Ellen '(McClelland) Fulton, both natives and residents of Pennsylvania, who are respected as enterprising and peace-loving citizens. Isaac Galland was born in Ohio in 1827, and is a son of David Galland, .-.11 native of Ohio, and Phebe (Gandy) Galland, a native of New Jersey. David Galland farmed to some extent, but most of his time was devoted to public affairs. He had the honor of assisting in framing the constitution of Iowa, in 1846, and served as judge of Union County, Ohio, for two or three terms, during which time he proved himself to be an honorable and trustworthy servant of public trust. He resided about a year in Illinois, and then went to Lee Coun, Iowa, where he died in 1867. Our subject remained in Lee ounty, Iowa, whither he had accompanied his father, until he took his departurefor Oregon Ten'itory in 1847.
