This case study describes medical devices and other technologies used to manage uninary incontinence and reports on the firms that produce such devices. Urinary incontinence represents a medical problem that is prevalent among the elserly and has enormous consequences for me- dical care costs. Although the case study emphazises mechanical de- vices over more conventional and widely used treatments such as drugs surgery, and bladdertraining procedures, these other treatments are also discussed. Evidence on the effectiveness and costs of alterna- tive treatments is presented.
