Frederic George Trayes (1871-? ) was Principal of the Royal Normal College of Bangkok. He and his wife were passengers on board the SS Hitachi Maru travelling from Singapore to Cape Town, when it was captured by SMS Wolf. He published his experiences in Five Months on a German Raider (1919).

For this was no ordinary freighter—this was the Wolf, a disguised German warship.
