A poetry collection inspired by the poet’s time in England, Japan and Spain.Eloquently written in an approachable style that will appeal to a wide range of readers.A thought-provoking collection that is insightful, surprising and compelling. Inspired by the poet’s time in England, Japan and Spain, the poems in Dynamo Memory explore how memories interact with present day realities and shape them into a new perspective. The poems are triggered by sharply focused observation of the present and then are taken in new directions that reveal the extraordinary that underlies the ordinary. The myriad aspects of reality are thrown into sharp relief, celebrating their colourful and varied facets whilst at the same time not flinching from their darker side. Each poem is a voyage of discovery, opening a window onto a world that is at once familiar and strange. Dynamo Memory is a compelling collection full of revelations that are often deeply moving, but also leavened by a wry sense of humour, written in an immediate style that will appeal to a broad range of readers. “Lemons like lanterns in the trees, tired green leaves, darkening sky.”

Nonlinear dynamo theory is central to understanding the magnetic structures of planets, stars and galaxies. In chapters contributed by some of the leading scientists in the field, this text explores some of the recent advances in the field. Both kinetic and dynamic approaches to the subject are considered, including fast dynamos, topological methods in dynamo theory, physics of the solar cycle and the fundamentals of mean field dynamo. Advances in Nonlinear Dynamos is ideal for graduate students and researchers in theoretical astrophysics and applied mathematics, particularly those interested in cosmic magnetism and related topics, such as turbulence, convection, and more general nonlinear physics.

This book contains the papers selected by the Scientific Committee and represented at the XIII International Conference "Solar-Terrestrial Relations and Physics of Earthquake Precursors", which was hold at the Institute of Cosmophysical Research and Radio Wave Propagation, Far Eastern Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Kamchatka. The papers describe the investigation results in the fields of atmosphere, ionosphere and magnetosphere physics. Mechanisms of transformation of solar wind energy into the energy of magnetospheric-ionospheric processes, effects of the processes in the Earth core on the lower and upper atmosphere, seismo-electromagnetic, seismo-electric and seismo-acoustic effects at different frequency ranges in the Earth crust, atmosphere and ionosphere are under consideration. Modern methods for geophysical data collection, processing, transfer and exchange as well as organisation issues of seismic activity monitoring are presented. The Conference "Solar-Terrestrial Relations and Physics of Earthquake Precursors" has 25 years of history. Scientists from Russia, Japan, Hungary, China, India, USA and other countries participate in it. In a traditional way, the Conference includes three sections: atmosphere physics, geophysical fields and their interaction, physics of earthquake precursors.

Since the first edition was published, new technologies have emerged, especially in the area of convergence of computing and communications, accompanied by a lot of new technical terms. This third expanded and updated edition has been adaptetd to cope with this situation. The number of entries has been incremented by 35%. This dictionary offers a valuable guide to navigate through the entanglement of German and English terminology. The lexicographic concept (indication of the subject field for every term, short definitions, references to synonyms, antonyms, general and derivative terms) has been maintained, as well as the tabular layout.

This volume presents lectures given at the NATO Advanced Study Institute held 11-22 April 1988 at Newcastle upon Tyne, England. The aim of the Institute was to improve the interaction between workers in observational geomagnetism (using historical data) and archaeo- and palaeo-magnetism (using the remanent magnetization of man-made artefacts and of natural sediments and rocks) and those trying to interpret the data in terms of mechanisms inside or outside the Earth, particularly those developing dynamo theories of the field. The material discussed ranged from magnetic bacteria swimming round a circle in a few seconds, the effect of El Nino, through secular variation with time scales of tens to thousands of years and the'mechanics of individual field reversals and excursions (aborted reversals?) to possible modulation of average reversal frequency on the hundred million year time scale. Many members of the Physics Department helped with the organization, and we are most grateful to them, and in particular to Anne Codling for her very many contributions. We also gratefully acknowledge the painstaking work of Aileen Dryburgh and Lynn Whiteford in so carefully typing the manuscript.

Today's malware mutates randomly to avoid detection, but reactively adaptive malware is more intelligent, learning and adapting to new computer defenses on the fly. Using the same algorithms that antivirus software uses to detect viruses, reactively adaptive malware deploys those algorithms to outwit antivirus defenses and to go undetected. This book provides details of the tools, the types of malware the tools will detect, implementation of the tools in a cloud computing framework and the applications for insider threat detection.
