The Basketball Coach’s Primer is a resource of basketball ideas. It is written for coaches ready to review the principles and methods of the game before getting started with a new team, or for renewing coaches reviewing for the next season of basketball. Reviewing and renewing to gain greater understanding makes the game better for all the people of basketball. The basketball content or substance herein is not the authoritative “last” word but this study puts forward the important ideas for developing the players and the game at a fundamental level. This resource provides a synopsis of essentials, including a comprehensive outline of the basic maneuvers and processes for developing the skills and mobility of the players. A substantial quantity of relevant game-specific basketball applications are added to the mix of ideas for good measure. The Basketball Coach’s Primer also lays the basis for a more advanced game if needed.

"F-12 schools worldwide are now evaluating how to better prepare for a disruption like the one caused by COVID-19. Schools were pushed into remote learning and many were not prepared for such a jump. The edtech coaching primer illustrates how, with effective implementation, edtech coaching provides a training and support structure that can help schools transition from what was to what could be. The role of the edtech coach is often misunderstood, which can cause funding to be diverted and leads to those who fill these roles being asked to perform tasks that pull them away from their most impactful work - supporting teachers and improving learning. This book proposes a model that's both flexible in its implementation and clear in defining actionable steps so that the edtech coaching role has the greatest impact. The book: provides an understanding of what edtech coaches can and should be doing, showing how to build a structure that allows them time and space to support teacher growth; helps schools prepare to provide teachers better support in co-planning, co-teaching, modelling and coaching; provides a blueprint for the role of the edtech coach for district and school leaders, helping them understand how to advocate for these positions and focus the role to provide most impact; features different practitioners providing their perspectives on topics like providing personalised support for teachers, helping coaches identify their professional learning goals and more." -- Back cover.

The author's reasons for writing this book were, first, to provide readers with some basic hydrodynamic tenants that will help them understand the reasons for the complex nature of the stroke mechanics employed by elite, competitive swimmers. The first three chapters on resistance and propulsion were included for this purpose. The second purpose was to describe, what the author believes, is the major propulsive mechanism swimmers use: shoulder adduction. A third purpose was to comment on some of, the many "fads" and misconceptions about stroke mechanics that abound in our sport. His final reasoning behind writing this book was to speculate on some theories about stroke mechanics he developed over the years. The efficacy of these theories have yet to be validated by research, but are worth considering nonetheless. These purposes were met by the individual chapters on each competitive stroke, plus a chapter on stroke rates and stroke lengths. This book is not a continuation of the Swimming Faster series, although it contains some of the same information. Therefore, the author purposely changed the title to reflect his purpose in writing it. It contains descriptions and summaries of the most important research on swimming hydrodynamics over the last several decades, in his opinion. The descriptions of stroke mechanics are supported by photographs of some of the greatest swimmers in the world, both past and present. They were made from in-competition videos where one can see how they really swim, as opposed to what they think they should be doing, which is what one often sees in pool demonstrations and out-of-competition instructional videos.
