I was born through the sin of my mother and father. I was continually reminded of this through my tender years as a child. When your own dad tells you that you’re the worthless product of a male hooker, that you’re not pretty or smart enough to be of his blood, you hang your head in shame. I was humiliated by the piercing stares I got from those he informed of this. I was exposed to witchcraft. My mother was an alcoholic, and my dad had extramarital affairs with numerous women. As a child, I was also the victim of sexual assault. At the age of ten, my life took a turn for the better. My mother bore twin babies. Because she rejected the boy child, I was taught how to care for him. For the first time in my life someone showed me love, and I loved him back. I had never felt love before then. If my mom and dad did love me, they never showed it. My baby brother was two when he died. I watched as my mother murdered him. His life had given me joy, and now he was gone. I stopped communicating. Between this, my deformities, and my learning disability, I became a victim to all who knew me. I was commonly called retarded by teachers, students, and my own father. Even strangers on the street would call me names. This led me to become an unstable adult. As a woman, my life was a mess. I had no idea how to show love, or even what it felt like. Therefore, I damaged every relationship I had. Then I met Jesus. He taught me agape love. I learned to love like Jesus does. The Holy Ghost set me free of over a thousand demons. In every way, He set me free. I am living proof that our God reigns, that He can take the most corrupted mess and create something of beauty. In my soul, I was an ugly duckling, but Jesus made me into a beautiful swan. What the Lord has done for me, He can do for you.

My sleep deprivation was affecting every aspect of my life. I read several books on sleep training, as well as blogs and websites. I was at my wits end. After following the program for two weeks, my child was consistently sleeping 11-12 hours a night and was on a consistent schedule during the day! This program has literally given me my life back." - McKel Neilsen "Two months ago I was at the end of my sleep rope with our 6-month-old, boy/girl twins. Exhausted doesn't begin to explain it, I felt desperate. After using the Baby Sleep Trainer Method we feel like we have our lives back. The babies are happy and well rested, and so are we! We have our evenings back to cook dinner, spend time with our 4-year-old daughter, hang out together, and actually do things we enjoy. The process took commitment but has been absolutely worth every bit of it." - Beth Oller, MD "Using the Baby Sleep Trainer Method, my daughter quickly went to a routine nap schedule during the day and sleeping through the night from 6:30pm to 6:30am! Also, rather than the exhausting and often unsuccessful rocking or soothing or feeding to sleep, we were able to put her down awake in her crib and she would fall asleep on her own in just a few minutes. It was just incredible." - Online Review

This is a true story about the abuse, neglect, and the survival of five small children, what they had to endure and cope with throughout the years when they should have been loved, but were not. I am taking the time to write this book, for all the children that weren't and may not be as fortunate as we were. Therefore, I dedicate this book to them and to my brothers and sister who have since passed away.I hope this book will help others understand what happens to the less fortunate children in our society, even though as you read my book, you may find yourself sad and in awe.All too often children are not as fortunate as we are and will not live through the horrors and the trails life will set before them, leaving their stories never to be heard. Therefore, I write my story in their honor. Many times in our young lives, the hard times seemed to be insurmountable. Nevertheless, with the help of good friends and family, along with good old-fashion hard work and a little imagination, along with ingenuity, often things that may have been impossible, are now possible. This is why I tell people "never say never," because the impossible is only an idea that has yet to be done.I have always felt that to try and fail is not the mark of a failure, but to see something as being impossible before you have ever tried, is truly marking yourself to be a failure. Courage is not the absence of fear; it is having the strength to do what is necessary for spite of fear.

When Edith was stillborn without warning, Jonny and Joanna were stunned and confused. Why wasn't anyone talking about baby loss? Where could they turn for help? Who would answer their burning questions? One in in four pregnancies ends in miscarriage; one in 200 in stillbirth. And yet, while the church offers resources to cope with suffering generally, there is often an echoing silence when it comes to the trauma of baby loss. 'When we lost our daughter Edith,' say Jonny and Joanna, 'it was painful indeed to find the lack of biblically rooted and pastorally sensitive resources.' Nothing really hit the mark, so, through tears, they wrote this book. It comes to you, or someone close to you, with a massive hug. It is the authors' prayer and passion that you will be amazed by our great God as you connect with deep truths from the Bible, bringing healing to your heart, mind and soul.

This is the first book to study the cultural impact of the Armistice of 11 November 1918. It contains 14 new essays from scholars working in literature, music, art history and military history. The Armistice brought hopes for a better future, as well as sadness, disappointment and rage. Many people in all the combatant nations asked hard questions about the purpose of the war. These questions are explored in complex and nuanced ways in the literature, music and art of the period. This book revisits the silence of the Armistice and asks how its effect was to echo into the following decades. The essays are genuinely interdisciplinary and are written in a clear, accessible style.
