Excerpt from Manual of the Southwestern Presbyterian Church, Philadelphia: April, 1885 The regular duties of the Sabbath are sufficient for the strength of the Pastor. V. Baptism. - All Christian parents should present their children to the Lord in Baptism, as soon as convenient after they are born. This ordinance should be administered in the presence of the congregation, and not in private, except in cases of sickness. Parents intending to present their children for Baptism should always write, with care, the child's name in full, and date of birth, together with the names of the father and mother in full, upon a slip of paper, and hand the same to the Pastor, to be recorded in the Church Register.
