Blurred Visions fills an important gap in the literature on applied philosophy. It explores the relationship between ideological disputes and evidence and attempts to establish the ways in which the intractability of some ideological disputes is a function of the disputants adopting the notion of brute evidence, and the extent to which a change of epistemological venue might affect the resolution and prevention of ideological disputes. It declares that scientific theory and ideology are conceptual frameworks that allow us to make sense of the world that we live in, and contends that recognizing the ideology-ladenness of facts and observations will facilitate the resolution of these disputes by depolarizing their argumentation, thereby making it less likely that they will incite acts of armed aggression.

Let’s be honest, living a godly life here on earth can be difficult. We live in a world that is fallen and wants little to do with God, so being a follower of Christ and living a godly life is a constant struggle. And unfortunately many times we make it even tougher. We as followers of Christ allow the perspectives and views of this world to infiltrate our way of thinking. This causes an even bigger struggle, because the world’s point of view is opposite of God's. As followers of Christ, we must do just that, follow Christ. In order to truly live a godly life, we must see and think about things from God's point of view, not the world’s. How we worship, pray, forgive, and relate to others, both inside and outside the church, are affected by the points of view by which we choose to live our lives. When we try to live for God using the world's perspectives, we have blurred vision. We must be transformed in how we think and view things, so that our lives are in line with God's point of view. Only then will we be able to truly live a godly life.

First contact? “Take it easy,” said Kylie, still with a hint of amusement. “You’re perfectly safe. Think of me as a tourist.” Polly squinted back at her. She couldn’t help herself. “Are you invading earth?” “Are you kidding? Do you know how much that would cost?” “Then what are you doing here?” “We found you after you activated the camera on the satellite and were impressed by the other stuff you did to hide your tracks. Easy for us, but we all thought it was very cool. For an Earth human, anyway.” “You don’t talk like an alien.” “How many do you know?” asked Kylie. Polly couldn’t argue with that. “Good point.” When Polly Hart agrees to swap places with a girl from another planet, she has no idea that this makes her a fugitive in the fabulous universe revealed by her new friend, and now she must outwit the school bully, a weird teacher and an interstellar hit squad to survive. Layered with physical, emotional, and relational tension, Through Blurred Vision brings forth the life of a young man that was given a diagnosis that appears in 0.0001% of births. As a result, Kurt Pangborn’s life was encompassed in darkness. Yet despite the daunting realty of this diagnosis’ limitations, Pangborn sought the true light of life in his darkness, and found a message that extends past human reason. Kurt Pangborn’s Through Blurred Vision inspires readers to turn their pain into praise and apply the “Three P’s” of higher living. Residing in a world that is broken and filled with trials, Pangborn’s writing encourages others to seek God’s guidance—because He wants your life to rise above the inequity and to magnify his glory. Mankind’s greatest problem is separation from Christ, which Pangborn uniquely presents in Through Blurred Vision as the gospel and game plan for every man, women, son, and daughter.

The ability to see deeply affects how human beings perceive and interpret the world around them. For most people, eyesight is part of everyday communication, social activities, educational and professional pursuits, the care of others, and the maintenance of personal health, independence, and mobility. Functioning eyes and vision system can reduce an adult's risk of chronic health conditions, death, falls and injuries, social isolation, depression, and other psychological problems. In children, properly maintained eye and vision health contributes to a child's social development, academic achievement, and better health across the lifespan. The public generally recognizes its reliance on sight and fears its loss, but emphasis on eye and vision health, in general, has not been integrated into daily life to the same extent as other health promotion activities, such as teeth brushing; hand washing; physical and mental exercise; and various injury prevention behaviors. A larger population health approach is needed to engage a wide range of stakeholders in coordinated efforts that can sustain the scope of behavior change. The shaping of socioeconomic environments can eventually lead to new social norms that promote eye and vision health. Making Eye Health a Population Health Imperative: Vision for Tomorrow proposes a new population-centered framework to guide action and coordination among various, and sometimes competing, stakeholders in pursuit of improved eye and vision health and health equity in the United States. Building on the momentum of previous public health efforts, this report also introduces a model for action that highlights different levels of prevention activities across a range of stakeholders and provides specific examples of how population health strategies can be translated into cohesive areas for action at federal, state, and local levels.

From its origins in academic discourse in the 1970s to our collective imagination today, the concept of “rape culture” has resonated in a variety of spheres, including television, gaming, comic book culture, and college campuses. Beyond Blurred Lines traces ways that sexual violence is collectively processed, mediated, negotiated, and contested by exploring public reactions to high-profile incidents and rape narratives in popular culture. The concept of rape culture was initially embraced in popular media – mass media, social media, and popular culture – and contributed to a social understanding of sexual violence that mirrored feminist concerns about the persistence of rape myths and victim-blaming. However, it was later challenged by skeptics who framed the concept as a moral panic. Nickie D. Phillips documents how the conversation shifted from substantiating claims of a rape culture toward growing scrutiny of the prevalence of sexual assault on college campuses. This, in turn, renewed attention toward false allegations, and away from how college enforcement policies fail victims to how they endanger accused young men. Ultimately, she successfully lends insight into how the debates around rape culture, including microaggressions, gendered harassment and so-called political correctness, inform our collective imaginations and shape our attitudes toward criminal justice and policy responses to sexual violence.
