Apocalypse, translated literally from Greek, is a disclosure of knowledge, hidden from humanity in an era dominated by falsehood and misconception, i.e., a lifting of the veil or revelation, although this sense did not enter English until the 14th century. In religious contexts it is usually a disclosure of something hidden. In the Revelation of John, the last book of the New Testament, the revelation which John receives is that of the ultimate victory of good over evil and the end of the present age, and that is the primary meaning. Today, it is commonly (and erroneously) used in reference to any prophetic End Time scenario or to the end of the world in general. The key to the cryptic message in the book of Revelation is in the Metaphysics of Truth -- THE TRUTH IS ALWAYS TRYING TO REVEAL ITSELF TO US. Once we understand our world as a reflection of the delicate metaphysical balance between Truth's incessant Will to be made manifest and the errant choices of human will, we will see the book of Revelation for what it really is - an unveiling of Truth through the harsh experiences that enlighten us. In the final volume of the Apocalypse Now series, we examine Revelation's Sixth seal. Revelation's Sixth seal marks the day in humanity's future when the delicate balance between Truth and belief will become askew on a COLOSSAL scale. The event will be significant enough to inspire everyone to change their priorities. Just as a near brush with death inspired many towards understanding Truth and the internal nature of our being, so too would humanity be inclined by a world-changing catastrophe. Not a single person can tell us WHEN it will occur, but the event can be demonstrated as Revelation's looming harbinger or warning event. It is a prelude to doom, deception and long-awaited redemption for those who have departed. It earmarks the swift escalation towards the final battle between Truth and our perceptions of it. Discover the mysteries of Revelation's prophecy as the secrets unfold in Volume 5 of the Apocalypse Now Series.

In 1975, after his two Godfather epics, Francis Ford Coppola went to the Philippines to film Apocalypse Now. He scrapped much of the original script, a jingoistic narrative of U.S. Special Forces winning an unwinnable war. Harvey Keitel, originally cast in the lead role, was fired and replaced by Martin Sheen, who had a heart attack. An overweight Marlon Brando, paid a huge salary, did more philosophizing than acting. It rained almost every day and a hurricane wiped out the set. The Philippine government promised the use of helicopters but diverted them at the last minute to fight communist and Muslim separatists. Coppola filmed for four years with no ending in the script. The shoot threatened to be the biggest disaster in movie history. Providing a detailed snapshot of American cinema during the Vietnam War, this book tells the story of how Apocalypse Now became one of the great films of all time.

'It may be the most lucid account of the strain of epic moviemaking that we'll ever get. At it's center there's a great artist-hero caught in a trap - struggling to find the theme of the picture he's already shooting.' Pauline Kael, New YorkerIn the Spring of 1976, Eleanor Coppola, her husband, Francis Ford Coppola, and their children left California for the Philippines, where Apocalypse Now was to be filmed. As the months stretched into years, Eleanor Coppola's Notes became an extraordinary record not only of the making of a movie, but of the emotional and physical price exacted from all who participated in it.

In this lively introduction, J. Nelson Kraybill shows how the book of Revelation was understood by its original readers and what it means for Christians today. Kraybill places Revelation in its first-century context, opening a window into the political, economic, and social realities of the early church. His fresh interpretation highlights Revelation's liturgical structure and directs readers' attentions to twenty-first-century issues of empire, worship, and allegiance, showing how John's apocalypse is relevant to the spiritual life of believers today. The book includes maps, timelines, photos, a glossary, discussion questions, and stories of modern Christians who live out John's vision of a New Jerusalem.

"In her brilliant, wide ranging, nuanced study of apocalypse, Keller has written a definitive cultural and theological essay. In this book she is doing the work of the true intellectual: providing learned, passionate guidance for living the good life, all of us together, here and now, on our planet." —Sallie McFague, Distinguished Theologian in Residence Vancouver School of Theology "A richly evocative exploration of apocalyptic's ambiguous possibilities.... Inspiring in the fullest personal, political, and religious senses of the term." —Kathryn Tanner University of Chicago Divinity School "Catherine Keller is a poet among theologians. Her writing attains imaginative heights and depths that expose the flatly prosaic character of most theological work. One finds oneself lingering over sentences, images and tropes, hearing them resonate with connections and insights." —Peter Hodgson Journal of the American Academy of Religion

Hired in 1976 by Francis Ford Coppola as the still photographer for his masterpiece Apocalypse Now, Chas Gerretsen’s private archive of hundreds of photographs propels readers immediately into the chaos and drama surrounding one of the most important movies ever made. Gerretsen was a renowned freelance photographer working in Vietnam when he got the call from Coppola, who was looking for a combat photographer for a war movie. Given unprecedented access to the film’s stars, extras, crew, and legendary behind-the-scenes drama he spent six months in the Philippines, shooting thousands of images. Culled from that archive, these full-color photographs offer an intimate glimpse of the turmoil and excitement of a Hollywood spectacle rising out of the unpredictable climate of the Philippine rainforest. Capturing the star power of Marlon Brando, Martin Sheen, and Dennis Hopper, as well as the sprawling sets, he takes us into the beauty of the Southeast Asian jungle and shows us how its inhabitants were incorporated into the filming. Throughout the book, Gerretsen’s astute reflections of his experience on set are as fascinating as his photography. While Apocalypse Now remains one of the most critically acclaimed movies of all time, the making of the film is equally legendary. Nearly fifty years later, Gerretsen’s photographs remind us of Coppola’s artistic achievements and of a pivotal era in American cultural history.
