A simple, imaginative story depicting the complex emotional reality of a girl whose father no longer lives at home. The girl conjures up an imaginary companion — a lion — who will join her on the long walk home from school. He will help her to pick up her baby brother from daycare and shop at the store (which has cut off the family’s credit), and he’ll keep her company all along the way until she is safely home. He will always come back when she needs him, unlike her father whom she sees only in a photograph — a photograph in which he clearly resembles a lion. In 1983, the book In Search of April Raintree was published to great acclaim, heralding the voice of an important new writer, Beatrice Mosionier (then Culleton). With honesty and clarity, Mosionier explored the story of two Métis sisters as they struggle with loss, identity, and racism. Yet readers have long asked: how much of April’s story comes from the author’s own life? Come Walk With Me, Beatrice’s answer to that question, is a moving memoir that follows a bewildered three-year-old through a dramatic journey to adulthood. Recounting a life that, at times, parallels that of her most memorable fictional character, and at others, diverges from it, Mosionier searches to make sense of her losses—her sundered family, her innocence, and her dignity—only to triumph as a woman and writer, fulfilled artistically, politically, and personally.

Plato once wrote that an unexamined life is not one worth living. This book looks briefly at the nature of the self, the attributes that make up our identity. Our identity is both separate and connected to the classifications we are placed into in society such as race/gender. This book explores the how the self coupled with our societal differences all come together to form humanity. Although there are numerous languages across the globe, there is one language that is universal; love.

This book is the mirror to my soul. It tells about how I felt when certain things came into my life. It also explains how I saw the things that God the Father created. It is a depiction of my feelings when I received the Spirit of the Lord and let Him lead me down the path of righteousness. I have been writing this book for over twenty years. It did not start out as a book, I first was just writing down my spiritual thoughts that the spirit told me to write in journals that I kept. The Spirit of the Lord would wake me from a sound sleep and through thoughts put these words into my head. My children are the ones who encouraged me to turn these writings into a book. I thought that was flattering and I considered doing so, but the spirit did not give me the go head until now. I guess He was not through telling me what to write. I kept reading my bible and going to church and getting closer and closer to my savior Jesus Christ. I literal fell in love with God the father and Jesus Christ the son. When I received the Holy Spirit I didn't know what was happening to me. I felt a burning sensation, as if I was on fire and I saw red when I closed my eyes. I went into a deep sleep and when I awaken in the morning I felt brand new. I wanted to pick up the bible and start reading what thus sayeth the Lord. That was the best feeling I have ever had, not even when I gave birth to my two children, did I feel that sensation. Getting to know God and feeling His spirit within you is the greatest feeling in the world. I was taught who God the father is and why Jesus was sent to die for us. I learned how to live a peaceful and joyous life and to keep them both in my sight, so that when I came to the light I could follow them. I was taught that I could receive eternal life, if I keep the faith, believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. Confess that He died for my sins and turn from my wicked ways; be water baptized and spirit filled, than I would be saved. This is a wonderful feeling to have. I hope I give whoever reads this word inspiration to get to know the Father God and the son Jesus Christ the anointed one and let the spirit come in and have His will so that you too can experience the same feeling that I have.

200 Spaniards with 70 emaciated horses hold the central grand plaza of Cuzco and have taken the Saqusayhuaman fortress high above. 200,000 natives surround them in the hills and mountains and look to Manco Inca to show them the path to their revenge. Manco Inca is just seventeen, the youngest and the fourth Sapa Inca in four years. He has seen the devastation of a civil war and then the unstoppable power of the silver-shelled strangers with their horses, guns and steel. After more than a year apart, Pedro Pizarro and his native friend Quispe come together again on the third night of the battle to take the great fortress. Quispe was preparing himself to jump with hundreds of others from the cliff into the land of his ancestors. This incredible and fascinating conclusion to the Spaniard's conquest of the Incan Empire is detailed on a most compelling and personal scale. It is the story of two great friends and their two views of the Historic events that, try as the might, they could not change - until the very last day. In the footsteps of his characters, the author walked 500 miles across Spain, explored Francisco Pizarro's hometown of Trujillo, attended Mass and interviewed priests in Pedro Pizarro's church of San Martin. He has climbed through mangrove swamps in Ecuador, walked hundreds of miles of original Incan roads and across every battlefield. He has shared spirit-soaring nights in the homes of the Andean, Quechua People whose reverence for the Natural World has changed very little in 500 years. He has brought the spirit of these people and those nights to his writing.
