The Right to Repair is a social and political movement that strives to lessen corporate restrictions over the electronic repair industry. This movement aims to achieve this goal by advocating for legislation that gives consumers access to repair parts and diagnostic software to allow individuals to repair their devices. While many studies such as “Consumer Perceptions of the Right to Repair” have surveyed the American public on their support and familiarity with this movement, the views of the Right to Repair in smaller regions have yet to be researched. This research investigated the perceptions within Brevard County, Florida, a county famous for its involvement in the space industry and home to the Kennedy Space Center. To conduct this research, a mixed methods survey was distributed to 10,700 Brevard County residents. The results from this study determined that Brevard County residents had a similar perception of legislation supporting the Right to Repair and a similar familiarity with the Right to Repair compared with the broader American public; however, Brevard County residents were less surprised by repair restrictions put forth by technology manufacturers.
