The church has a duty to fight corruption and injustice. The increased awareness globally of corruption and the threat it poses to humanity has led many in the secular and Christian world to seek solutions to stamp out this scourge. Recognizing the crisis caused by corruption in Tanzania, his own country, Dr Alfred Sebahene seeks to understand this social epidemic through the application of theological ethics. As a result of the study the author identifies theological-ethical guidelines that inform and add substance to the church’s duty in the public sphere, particularly in the fight against corruption and injustice.

"Working with Customary Justice Systems: Post-conflict and Fragile States is a collection of articles from the 'Legal Empowerment and Customary Law Research Grants' program, where seven bursaries were awarded to scholar-practitioners to develop and conduct empirically grounded and evidence-based research programs to evaluate the impact of an empowerment-based initiative involving customary justice. The case studies illustrate that what is effective is situation-specific and contingent upon a variety of factors including, among others, social norms, the presence and strength of a rule of law culture, socioeconomic realities and national and geo-politics"--Provided by publisher.

Nina Rao, Southern Co Chair of the Tourism Caucus at the UN Commission on Sustainable Development, and Professor of Tourism 'A powerful and much-needed tool to fight the seemingly all-pervasive ignorance in the corporate and consumer-driven world that continues to hail ecotourism and other tourism 'alternatives' as beneficial to local people without looking at the root causes of problems.' Anita Pleumarom, Tourism Investigation and Monitoring Team, Bangkok Tourism is the fastest growing industry in the world. Ecotourism, often considered a more benign form of tourism, can in fact cause the most damage, as it targets more vulnerable environments and cultures. It also offers a cross-cultural window to the divide between corporate thinking and sacred knowledge, to help us understand why collisions over resources and land use are escalating. Braithwaite's argument against punitive justice systems and for restorative justice systems establishes that there are good theoretical and empirical grounds for anticipating that well designed restorative justice processes will restore victims, offenders, and communities better than existing criminal justice practices. Counterintuitively, he also shows that a restorative justice system may deter, incapacitate, and rehabilitate more effectively than a punitive system. This is particularly true when the restorative justice system is embedded in a responsive regulatory framework that opts for deterrence only after restoration repeatedly fails, and incapacitation only after escalated deterrence fails. Braithwaite's empirical research demonstrates that active deterrence under the dynamic regulatory pyramid that is a hallmark of the restorative justice system he supports, is far more effective than the passive deterrence that is notable in the stricter "sentencing grid" of current criminal justice systems.
