Figures showing the mineral production Of the country are available from the census returns for 1880, however, and com parisons are possible from that year to date. The statistics for many individual minerals for still earlier years have been compiled by the Survey's Specialists. In 1880, according to the Tenth Census, the population of the United States was and the value Of the mineral products was - a per capita value Of In 1910, according to the Thirteenth Census, the population had increased to a gain of about 80 per cent, and the value of mineral products to an increase in 30 years Of or more than 440 per cent, and an average value per capita Of In 1916, according to the Bureau of the Census, the population had increased to and as the mineral production for that year amounted to the value Of the per capita output was Therefore, from 1880 to 1916 the population increased or 101 per cent; the value Of the mineral products in creased or 856 per cent; and the per capita value increased or 375 per cent.
