It was published in the Helena Montana Journal, and from the columns of that paper transferred into book form. At the solicitation of friends it has been sent out in its present shape. No merit is claimed for the work, except that it is a plain historical sketch of the Flathead Indian nation, from 1813, to present date, with the history of the establishment of St. Mary's Mission, by Father DeSmet, and scenes and incidents of the olden times in Montana.
