File, dated May 1960 by the Field Engineering Division of the Los Angeles Dept. of Water and Power, documenting construction and maintenance of Dry Canyon Dam near Saugus, California, initially built 1910-1912 as part of the Los Angeles Aqueduct, to regulate the flow of discharge water from the San Francisquito Canyon power plants, as well as damages to the dam sustained by the Arvin-Tehachapi earthquake of July 21, 1952. The file contains [2] p. of background text on the construction of the dam, located on Dry Canyon Creek, a south-flowing tributary of the Santa Clara River in northeastern Los Angeles County, and improvements made between 1932-1938. There are 8 photographs of cracks and other damage caused by the earthquake, arranged on 4 leaves, two to a page; and 4 folded plates of blueprint drawings, including a composite construction section of 1953, Dry Canyon Dam reconstructed, Dry Canyon Reservoir additions to dam (1934), and crack observations (1952).
